7075
Grade 7075 is a heat-treatable aerospace aluminium with additions of zinc, magnesium copper, manganese and chromium. Primarily a sheet and plate grade the 7075 aluminium was developed over 60 years ago and has been used as a standard aerospace grade ever since.
It is credited with being the first successful high strength Al-Zn-Mg-Cu alloy benefiting from the addition of chromium to develop good stress-corrosion cracking resistance. This attribute combined with a high strength, good properties at low temperatures and a moderate toughness and corrosion resistance make it an ideal grade for aerospace applications and structures especially when clad.
